Every thought, every movement, every word you speak is dependent upon enzyme presence in your body. Your body manufactures all the enzymes you need, except one: CELLULASE. The pancreas is the organ most involved in enzymes. Enzymes are required as noted above for proper body function, but most people are most familiar with enzymes that are needed for the digestion of food.
If you're not familiar
with the enzyme details, and it's very complex, you'll appreciate the following
simplified overview. Let's look at enzymes from the viewpoint of
digestion, since we all eat food. An enzyme detail that you should
know is that processing foods at average cooking temperatures will destroy
enzymes. When foods are eaten in a fresh, raw state is when enzymes
are present and able to perform the digestion of foods. You probably
know what poor digestion (a lack of digestive enzymes) feels like:

The fact that antacids are the number one over-the-counter product sold in the United States is an indication that millions of people aren't enjoying enzyme function in foods.
When enzymes are present in the foods you eat or the enzyme supplement you take, a significant degree of digestion will occur. This reduces the drain on your body's enzyme potential. When enzymes are not available in food, due to processing, your body is forced to produce the digestive enzymes you need. This process causes an enlargement of your digestive organs, especially the pancreas. It takes a lot of energy to create digestive enzymes; your body is designed to receive a majority of foods in raw state. When a large demand for digestive enzymes is forced on your body, there may not be enough enzymes to produce the types of cellular enzymes that should be available to fight disease and repair your body's organs. Your body makes hundreds of different kinds of enzymes, but fewer than two dozen digestive enzymes. More of your enzyme potential is used to supply digestive enzymes than to make all of the hundreds of enzymes required for organs and tissue function.
NOTE: If you eat any enzyme depleted foods - in other words, foods that are cooked - you should seriously consider taking a digestive enzyme supplement. "Active Enzymes" will supply you with a wide range of powerful digestive enzymes, including cellulase (you'll need cellulase to digest fruits and vegetables).
